Venue: Kompleks Sukan II, Kampus Kesihatan Universiti Sains Malaysia
Time: 4.00pm-4.30pm

Greetings to Dato’ Zuraidah Atan, Board of Trustees/Board of Directors, #YSSDreamTeam and to my fellow YSS Alumni.

I have just represented #AlumniYSS_USMKK in a YSS sharing session during KPTN @Kelantan. Among the input that I have shared were:

1) Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa is 100% owned by Ministry of Higher Education and has been established since 2012 as well as how YSS can develop holistic, entrepeneurial and balanced graduates based on Shift 1: Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015-2020

2) How YSS is different from other volunteer associations/programs based on the core values of YSS:
-Inclusiveness
–Immersion
-Right volunteers for the right job
-High impact programmes
-To produce global volunteer leaders

3) How to join YSS and what are the qualifications needed as well as what are the benefits gained by joining YSS and how joining YSS has improved my intrinsic values. I also shared my experiences joining the 15th IAVE Youth & Regional Volunteer Conference representing YSS with the other alumni last year. I also shared some of the alumni success stories and explicit leadership involvement after joining YSS.

4) I also shared some tips on how to manage time and catch up with syllabus when leaving for missions for weeks.

Last but not least, I stressed on not to necessarily follow the quote of _’If you wanna go fast, go alone. If you wanna go far, go together’_ because sometimes golden opportunity comes once in a life time and if we keep on waiting for others to come with us, we might lose the chance forever. Therefore, we need to be opportunistic and grab whatever chances that might come.

Thank you to Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa for giving me the chance to speak on behalf of YSS. As an alumni of YSS, it is an honour for me to wear the red shirt of YSS and to share my experiences during YSS missions during KPTN. Hoping to inspire more students to become a part of YSS.
