The Neiderwald is a giant park, full of gorgeous forests, scenic vistas, and points of interest. We walked on a cool, misty day after taking a short ride using cable car from the ground to the top of the hill.

Inside this park there is a big monument called the Niederwalddenkmal, which was constructed to commemorate the founding of the German Empire in 1871 after the end of the Franco-Prussian War.

Based on the historical information, the sculptor of the monument was Johannes Schilling, and the architect for the monument was Karl Weißbach. The monument was inaugurated on 28 September 1883.

The 38 metres (125 ft) tall monument is to represents the commemorate the Unification of Germany.
